GHANA IN RETROPECT PART THREE: THE RISE AND PERCEIVED SHORTCOMINGS OF NKRUMAH.

Guyana under siege reports that the political wave that swept Kwame Nkrumah into office as Prime Minister of Ghana was a true expression of her population. The nation was enjoying prosperity; foreign and domestic reserves were healthy; cocoa prices were excellent and stable and, in general, the prospects for the country's future were outstanding.

Nkrumah's government immediately embarked upon a very costly nationwide infrastructure improvement scheme. Roads were built and/or improved, in most cases, to all weather standards. The Accra to Tema Motorway was built to near Autobahn proportions. Medical services were greatly improved and expanded. Positive steps were taken towards implementation of the vast and extraordinarily costly Volta River hydro-electric dam at Akosombo. Tema Township and world class harbor were built.

Nkrumah focused enormous resources on improving Ghana's export agricultural base which, traditionally, was heavily dependent upon cocoa. The Agricultural Development Board was established to regulate cocoa production, purchasing and marketing and to identify, subsidize and promote the production of other cash crops to alleviate the tenuous cocoa dependency.

The Industrial Development Corporation was formed to plan and undertake a full range of industrial projects. The Management Development and Productivity Institute was chartered along with its principal division, The Ghanaian Business Bureau, designed to develop and nurture small to medium size Ghanaian-owned businesses.

Government was determined to reduce Ghana's dependence on foreign manufacturers and bring an end to the nation’s vulnerable position as a supplier of raw materials.

When Nkrumah took office as Prime Minister on 6 March, 1957, there was every indication that the above very noble activities could be successfully undertaken on a sustained basis. Cocoa prices were stable and at a near high, providing a steady and seemingly reliable source of foreign exchange.

In addition, and most importantly, Ghana was united behind her leader, succumbing to his extraordinary oratory, glib rhetoric and zeal. There was a vibrant national passion for development and self-reliance. Throughout the nation, in every region, in every Chiefdom, the population was enthusiastically and earnestly engaged in Nkrumah sponsored and supported self-help schemes; building schools, clinics, village and town centers, roads, drains and irrigation systems. Ghana of 1957-1959 experienced a massive outpouring of productive energy and was being keenly observed by the international community as the development model for emerging African nations.

So what went wrong? How and why did the brilliant, charismatic Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the outspoken Marxist/Communist, Pan-African Founding Father of Ghana, begin his political slide and ultimate ignominious fall from power? In 1965, world cocoa prices plummeted, and the enormous development spending begun by Nkrumah four years earlier, severely impacted the country's economy. Foreign exchange and government's reserves shrank and disappeared.

Unemployment rose dramatically. Food prices skyrocketed up over 250% from 1957 levels and up a phenomenal 66% in 1965. Eventually, there were massive food and essentials shortages affecting every area, sector and individual in Ghana. Economic growth, which had ranged from 9% to 12% per annum until 1960, dropped to 2% to 3%, insufficient to sustain a population expanding at almost 3% per year.

Nkrumah's response was an austere socialist budget which imposed flawed Marxist concepts of economic resuscitation on the population, primarily through harsh and unrealistic taxation. Financial mismanagement and economic chaos increased and the country was eventually poised at the brink of national bankruptcy and international disgrace.

In the meantime, to shore up his eroding political strength, Nkrumah assumed more and more power which he exercised capriciously. Obsessed with personal safety after two failed assassination attempts, he established a very well and heavily armed Secret Security Service and Presidential Guard recruited from abroad and under his direct control. Resentment by the ill-equipped Army and Police followed.

In 1964, Nkrumah declared himself President for Life and summarily banned all opposition political parties. His enemies, real and imagined, were detained. In the process, innocent people from all over Ghana were swept up and imprisoned in complete abuse of their individual rights and liberties. Laws were suspended and/or manipulated to prop up Nkrumah's faltering regime.

In the meantime, the Cult of Nkrumahism continued to develop and propound preposterous quasi-marxist theory and dogma hatched in the name of Nkrumah, at the Ideological Institute at Winneba. The Nkrumah cult, created by Nkrumah himself to perpetuate and mythicize himself, forced acquiescence by all, to what was called "the Nkrumahist Gospel".

On 24 February, 1966, the bubble did not merely burst, it exploded! In the early morning hours, Ghana's armed forces, with the cooperation of the National Police, took over government in "Operation Cold Chop", a well organized coup d'etat. The first announcement made from Radio Ghana said that the coup was led by Colonel Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka of the 2nd Infantry Brigade. Kotoka, an outstanding soldier, was a national hero, honored for valor and bravery while serving as part of Ghana's United Nations 1960 and 1961 Congo contingent. A National Liberation Council was formed to run the affairs of state. Parliament was dissolved. Nkrumah's ruling political organization, the Convention People's Party (C.P.P.), was banned and Nkrumah himself was dismissed as President of Ghana's First Republic. The reign of the Osegyefo, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was over.

Friends, I got affrightened yesternight during a text-talk with a young man who thinks democracy is not good for Ghana, and believes a military rule would be a solution.

A military rule can never be a solution to Ghana's problems. In fact, it is partly the cause of Ghana's woes.

There is, therefore, the need for our young ones to be educated on our country's past, and so I'll repeat a 13 part series I did about 5 years ago, "Ghana in Retrospect".

GHANA IN RETROSPECT PART ONE: U.S. ROLE IN NKRUMAH OVERTHROW

Declassified National Security Council and Central Intelligence Agency documents provide compelling evidence of United States government involvement in the 1966 overthrow of Ghanaian President Kwame Nkrumah.The coup d'etat, organized by dissident army officers, toppled the Nkrumah government on Feb. 24, 1966 and was promptly hailed by Western governments, including the U.S.

The documents appear in a collection of diplomatic and intelligence memos, telegrams, and reports on Africa in Foreign Relations of the United States, the government's ongoing official history of American foreign policy. Prepared by the State Department's Office of the Historian, the latest volumes reflect the overt diplomacy and covert actions of President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration from 1964-68. Though published in November 1999, what they reveal about U.S. complicity in the Ghana coup was only recently noted.

Allegations of American involvement in the putsche arose almost immediately because of the well-known hostility of the U.S. to Nkrumah's socialist orientation and pan-African activism.

Nkrumah, himself, implicated the U.S. in his overthrow, and warned other African nations about what he saw as an emerging pattern.

"An all-out offensive is being waged against the progressive, independent states," he wrote in Dark Days in Ghana, his 1969 account of the Ghana coup. "All that has been needed was a small force of disciplined men to seize the key points of the capital city and to arrest the existing political leadership."

"It has been one of the tasks of the C.I.A. and other similar organisations," he noted, "to discover these potential quislings and traitors in our midst, and to encourage them, by bribery and the promise of political power, to destroy the constitutional government of their countries."

A Spook's Story:

While charges of U.S. involvement are not new, support for them was lacking until 1978, when anecdotal evidence was provided from an unlikely source—a former CIA case officer, John Stockwell, who reported first-hand testimony in his memoir, In Search of Enemies: A CIA Story.

"The inside story came to me," Stockwell wrote, "from an egotistical friend, who had been chief of the [CIA] station in Accra [Ghana] at the time." (Stockwell was stationed one country away in the Ivory Coast.) Subsequent investigations by The New York Times and Covert Action Information Bulletin identified the station chief as Howard T. Banes, who operated undercover as a political officer in the U.S. Embassy.

This is how the ouster of Nkrumah was handled as Stockwell related. The Accra station was encouraged by headquarters to maintain contact with dissidents of the Ghanaian army for the purpose of gathering intelligence on their activities. It was given a generous budget, and maintained intimate contact with the plotters as a coup was hatched. So close was the station's involvement that it was able to coordinate the recovery of some classified Soviet military equipment by the United States as the coup took place.

According to Stockwell, Banes' sense of initiative knew no bounds. 

The station even proposed to headquarters through back channels that a squad be on hand at the moment of the coup to storm the [Communist] Chinese embassy, kill everyone inside, steal their secret records, and blow up the building to cover the facts.Though the proposal was quashed, inside the CIA headquarters the Accra station was given full, if unofficial credit for the eventual coup, in which eight Soviet advisors were killed. None of this was adequately reflected in the agency's records, Stockwell wrote.

One of my professional friends and I were talking about Ghanaian women, in particular, their character and mindsets.  The entire conversation was very disturbing to me.  I all of a sudden realized why many act the way they do and why some African men’s apparent lack of control of their sexual proclivities to denigrate and disrespect women. My friend who is a counselor began to tell me how many women, when indulging in sexual activities, whether within or outside the marital relationship, insists that their ‘vagina belongs to them and they can do what they want with it’, while claiming to be living a godly and holy life.  I thought hog wash! Surly they cannot think such!

As an African of Diaspora, I am misjudged by both African men and women according to that of which they have been programmed to think of American Blacks from news media or that they see on TV shows.  Their beliefs culminate with a number of dysfunctions and false beliefs from the way the majority of African men treat women as sex objects as the Europeans, to satisfy their narcissistic and false beliefs they hold of  warped ‘mocha-man’ sexual concepts.  I believe this is mainly due to a colonization mindset and leaving the Ways of the Ancestors as they became acclimated to Western Christianity, Greek and European mindsets in regards to the inferiority of women.

I just could not wrap my head around what my friend was telling me.  The next day, I picked up a daily newspaper and read the caption:  ”Pron Video Hits Gomoa Ojobi”.  As I began to read through the article that had not only a photo of the man but his name and occupation who the police had arrested for “allegedly having sex acts with a married woman and selling the video on line…The suspect was said to have had sex with the women (name withheld) in an uncompleted building after she asked him to lend her money to pay for the fee of her ward…”. Now anyone who lives in or know anything about Ghana there are many such buildings and they are more than likely filthy dirty and overgrown with weeds.  The ‘wards’ are usually those of whom their family cannot pay for their schooling.  Therefore, they become live-in house help for ‘well-to-do’ Ghanaians and foreigners who live in Ghana who pay for their schooling in return for room and board and perhaps uniforms and books.

I could not help but to put my hand over my mouth.  As I continued to read the article, it told of the willing sexual acts of abuse in various positions and the woman performing oral sex on the man.  I was flabbergast because the very reasons the article sighted for her alleged succumbing to what the man demanded was exactly what my friend and I talked about the day before. 

The most pathetic and distressing thing of all was that the woman was the pastor’s wife at the local church in the town! OMG! A pastor’s wife of one of the oldest and largest international denominations in the world!  What could this pastor have been teaching or doing that she could not go to her husband to get whatever she needed?  What kind of spirit could she have had that as a pastors wife who supposedly believed in the god they served, would go to another man and ask for money for any reason?

I would not have believed it, yet it explained all the untoward ‘passes’ made to me from men within and without ministry; the overall attitude that I should give way to their contemptible advances or pay them in addition to the job they were getting  paid to do; why I have been rejected and denigrate as a teacher of truth; and, why I have been refused platform by the ruling religious leaders of organizations (international and local) in Ghana.

You see, for those who do not know my mission for Ghana and the Divine Universal Mission for all of mankind is Restoration.  Restoration demands a change in mindsets; a repentant nature, a humble, contrite, receptive, obedient and pliable heart with a love for G-D and mankind.  What a sense of humor our Ancestors have…the Most High sent a woman to teach, lead, direct,  and point all into the knowledge of truth; male and female, young and old. 

Lol, how funny the things and unlikely people the Most High uses to bring about fulfillment of Purpose and the Will for humanity. Only, I do not find their scamming and scheming, their reluctance to receive truth, their disobedience, and actions of blatant abuse of the feminine godess or the enlightened ones funny at all! Yet, my job is to release revelation from Zion and let the Spirit do the rest. That I do no matter what they might throw in my path.

Have our people gone so far off in the Great Whore of Babylon away from the Way of our Ancestors, as they mimic Western Christianity, that they have become so very vile and evil as to think that what they do in secret will not come to the light? 

According to a prophecies I received 24April2015, 26July2016,  6August2016 that were  recorded and disseminated through Face Book, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Plus, Preparing Mindsets For A Higher Truth, and  Revelation Today For The Nations; Ghana, I want you to know that the pastors wife is only the beginning of  bringing your evil adulterous and treacherous ways to light.  You have treated the true prophets and enlightened ones who were sent to guide you into truth with much prejudice and contempt in your ignorance. From your government officials, your Christian councils, bishops, your false prophets, apostles, pastors and other religious heads, you have robbed the people and continue to keep them in ignorance for your own personal greed and not one of your evil acts have gone unnoticed.  You will be judged harshly and swiftly.

As one chosen and called to Ghana and the Nations of Chosen peoples, I have been justified and qualified with revelation, truth and Divine Counsel. I am telling you to step down or you will be brought down.  Repent NOW and it may be that the Most High will have mercy on you. I tell you this is only the beginning of miseries.
