Emancipation Day 2018 Ghana

The 20th year celebration launch of Emancipation Day in Ghana is off to a great start! Stay tuned for updates and a schedule of events.

Other than the Panafest celebrations, Emancipation Day is also a festival, organized in Ghana, to celebrate the emancipation of slaves. Emancipation Day is an annual event in Ghana, the Black Star of Africa and the gateway to the Homeland of people of African descent in the Diaspora.

Emancipation was originally celebrated in the Caribbean to commemorate the final abolition of Chatel Slavery in the British colonies on 1st August 1834.

Emancipation Day celebration will be attended by Diasporas and Africans from around the world.  It will climax with a grand durbar of the chiefs.
