RACISM IN EDUCATION POLITICS AND AMERICAN SOCIETY TODAY
At every turn I read racist
remarks alluding that there is no racism in the USA against Blacks, African
Americans, or People of Color.
Continually White people insist that they are tired of hearing Black
people complaining and “pulling the race card”. On the other hand there are those exceptional Whites who are punished by a racist System for standing up for justice and equality as if to warn all Whites to turn their heads and take no action against racist behavior; that anything other than doing the right thing towards People of Color is not acceptable and punishable by a racist System.
To People of Color, the
phrase “pulling the race card” is a term that was instituted by racist White
people to keep People of Color quiet about racism; to accept racist
attitudes and situations and to keep it to themselves. Pulling
the race card implies that someone is exploiting prejudice against another race
for political or some other advantage or allegations that someone has
deliberately and falsely accused another person of being racist for gain. The
term was first used by Robert Shapiro in the O.J. Simpson trial.
It seems that a great
majority of White Americans refuse to face the realities of racism! Even with
the tell-tell explosive signs and the revelation of racism in our judicial and police
System are currently bringing International attention to the disparities of People
of Color in the United States. The
killing of unarmed Black men by Peace Officers within the span of a few months
caused unrest in Black Communities around the Country! However when Whites come against that System to take a stand with People of Color, clearly seeing the disparagement's; they are treated, as if being given a stern over-reactive warning with adverse actions akin to what People of Color experience!
Operation Ghetto Storm Study reports that in the year 2012 alone that police, security
guards and vigilantes killed a Black person every 28-hours. Mike Brown, Ezell
Ford and Eric Garner are three among many of those who gained nation-wide
attention among the latest victims in the genocide of Black People in the USA.
I am not saying that all
White people are racist. What I am
saying is that it is easy to identify those who are by their blatant refusal to
admit that there are racial disparities and inequalities in every sector in the US. Many of those who refuse to admit that they are racist perpetuate racism. Therefore
they continue with their racist behaviors using the words “Race Card” as a
crutch and excuse.
Republicans are calling on
Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu to apologize after she suggested Thursday that
President Barack Obama's deep unpopularity in the South is partly tied to race and that the South is not friendly, historically towards People of Color.
The Honorable Gentlewoman Landarieu
is absolutely right! "I'll be very,
very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for
African-Americans. It's been a difficult time for the president to present
himself in a very positive light as a leader."
Not in Louisiana and the
South only but the entire United States of America and around the World! The problems countries of the World face today
stems from attempting to hide racism or pretending that racism does not exist.
Some foreign countries have taken the lead of Americans to joined in with
racial taunts as the reports of denigrating photos of the Obama's have
continually showed up with disparaging remarks. This, I believe is partly the
result of many Americans speaking untoward of the President under the guise
of having a right to "freedom of speech"; they perpetuate their racial
bias in the USA and abroad. Racism is being uncovered in the USA, Europe and
all around the World.
You cannot punish, accuse or expect someone to apologize for telling Truth! If
this is the only platform the Republicans have to run on, condemning someone for
telling the God's honest truth...What's that saying about the good people in
the State of Louisiana and every State in the Union?

Cynthia Ramsey |
Cynthia Ramsey, a math teacher at North Carolina’s
Camden County High School was suspended with pay for saying that if she only
had 10 days to live that she would kill all Black people.
Ramsey
was suspended but allowed to return to the classroom in a couple
of days.

Angry Mother Kimberly Ashcraft |
Kimberly Ashcraft, parent of one of the students brought the comment to the attention of the
school administrators because she felt that it was not only a threat to Black children
at the school, but Black people in the community.
Superintendent
Melvin Hawkins stated, “At
this point, our main concern is to investigate this incident thoroughly, and
collect the facts. This is a personnel issue, and it is confidential until
resolved. We are following protocol in this investigation and student and
school employee investigations are confidential”
In
contrast, to Cynthia Ramsey we have a teacher who was fired for doing the right
thing!
What
the hell is this world coming to? When you can fire a teacher for defending one
of her students in the West where racism is not as out in the open as say
versus the south; where the blatantly abhorrently racist Cynthia Ramsey, a math teacher at North Carolina’s Camden County High School was
suspend with pay for a few days before being allowed back on the
job.
Teacher Pam Aister was fired from Four Peaks Elementary School after a remark she made while standing up for a student
who has been racially harassed and bullied simply because he is Black.
Oh,
my...imagine that an educator standing up for what is right, just and fair making a remark to the same
is terminated!
The
incident occurred at Jay Stream Middle School in northeast corner of the Land
of Lincoln where about 40,000 people in
the town of Carol Stream’s motto is: "a great place to live and work";
an unnamed substitute teacher called two students “Nigger” during an
eighth-grade social studies class. Mea Thompson, who is of Jamaican descent,
said her and Zaria Daniel asked the teacher not to call them African-American
since none of them are from Africa.
A
substitute teacher admits to calling Mea Thompson and Zaria Daniel
"n*gger" during a discussion about the Emancipation Proclamation. The
girls said the teacher first called them "African-American,"
but Mea Thompson explains that she and three of her classmates who
"were sitting there got offended because none of us are from Africa. “Can
you please not call us that?’ and she continued to call us...the "N"
word” justifying that she used a “…politically correct term.”
These are all twisted perversions of injustice in these United States of
America's land of the free home of the brave for racist...all others will be
prosecuted to the fullest extent...
What
are we coming to? Are the evils of past
history being revisited upon the USA for Her blatant disregard for People of
Color?
I
echo the phrase made popular uttered by Rodney King, “Can we all get along?”
Hotep Light One Love!
