Tradition
is not to say blessed Yom Kippur. However, to me, when any
shortcomings are faced and dealt with; excused or pardoned; when
repentance is acknowledged and you become one with Spirit, that is
blessed and happy! That is being At-One-Moment that one knows they are one with YAH G-D or the Universe or whatever vernacular you care to use!
Yom Kippur is the holiest
day of the year—the day on which we are closest to our Creator, in quintessence of soul;
a day to reflect on the graces and gifts given to mankind. It is the Day of Atonement—“For on this day G-D
will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed...” Yom Kippur began at sunset and will end at
sunset. (Some begin at sunset the day before the 14th day.)
Traditionally, Yom Kippur is
considered the date on which Moses received the second set of Ten Commandments,
which occurred following the completion of the second 40 days of learning and testing. It commemorates coming out of slavery and bondage looking toward a new beginning of entering into one's Promise Land. During that time, the people were granted atonement for the sin (errors) of worshiping
the Golden Calf. Therefore, the day was
designated as the Day of Atonement. Signifying even now our atonement and the sealing of the names of
the atoned ones being written in the Book of Life!
The significance for us
today, well, one can only answer that question and come to a righteous
deduction for themselves. As for me and
my house…Catch the Vision!
L'shanah
tovah tikatev v'taihatem! May
you be inscribed and sealed for a good year Happy and prosperous Yom Kippur!
