A Lie Is A Lie

You can call it a story; you can call it a fib; you can call it a little white lie but a lie is a lie is a lie! There is no such thing as a little lie or a big lie; a lie is a lie is a lie! There is no difference in an unintentional lie or an intentional lie; a lie is a lie is a lie!  There are lies of fabrication, lies of exaggeration lies of deception, plagiarism, broken promises, failure to keep ones commitments, bold-faced lies, and compulsive lies.  No matter what you might want to call it, a lie is a lie is a lie.

Let me just define what a lie is.  A lie is to state or speak an untruth; to express what is false or to convey a false impression with intent to deceive. In short, a lie is when one is dishonest. A lie is a false statement.

Ghanaians have this saying, “I am coming”. I have yet to figure out why they use it or why they do not see it as a lie when they know they are not coming back. Perhaps they think that by saying, “I’m coming” that they are covered when you see them a month or so later.  Yet, they have told a bold-faced lie!  Whether one intended to return in a timely manner and did not, it is still a lie, without intent, to deceive another.  However, if they do not return in a timely manner; it is still a lie. Pick up the phone!

Another example of lying is when one says, I am on my way now, knowing full well that they have not walked out of  the door yet.  That is a lie. There are other outright lies used to teach our children how to lie.  For instance the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, the tooth fairy, etc.

Psychologist call those people who lie almost all of the time, compulsive or psychopathic liars who tell lies when they don’t have to and more than likely others know that they’re lying.

There is never a good reason to lie.  Some people lie to keep from hurting another’s feelings.  Some lie to avoid punishment. Others lie because they want to make themselves out to be more than what they are or into someone they are not.  People lie because they want something they know they do not deserve.

Liars keep lying because each repeated lie produces another lie that desensitizes their brains emotional center thereby diminishing ones emotional stability.

People lie when they are trying to control a situation; to exert influence towards getting what they want from another.  Truth is an inconvenience to a liar because it does not conform to their narrative.  People lie because they want admiration; they want to impress someone they admire; seeing the qualities they desire within that individual that they want to impress upon them that they have those admirable qualities.

Gossiping and lying goes hand in hand.  You can bet that every gossiper is a liar. The gossiper lies to make them self appear to be more than the one they are gossiping about.  They think that if they put the other person down that it makes them look bigger, smarter, more important, etc.

In Ghana, they have audacity to call gossip a part of their "caring" culture.  The men are the worse. Yet, they will be sitting up in a church on Sunday lying to themselves, lying to others and lying to the Most High just as they have lied all week long as if G-D don’t know they are lying gossips who have broken every commandment in the book.

You knew that you could not fix that computer; all you want is the money, knowing you’re lying about having the skills but will still collect the money. You are a deceiving, conning, thieving liar!

You see a non Ghanaian and the taxi fare just went up. You’re a lying, conning, conniving, deceiving, dishonest person.  You too vendor!

Therefore, if you Ghanaians are wondering why you are not seeing any advancements, growth, or improvements stop lying! Wondering why you are still in that wilderness experience unable to cross over into your Promised Land of peace, prosperity wealth and riches? Stop gossiping! At least make an honest attempt to try to keep the 10-Commandments if nothing else. Catch the Vision!
